Desmos Graphing Calculator is the app most students open the moment algebra turns into a picture: type an equation, see the curve, understand what changing a number actually does to the shape. It is free and it is everywhere, but it still asks for an install. So we built Graph Sketch, a free graphing calculator that runs right here in your browser. How to use it

Type an expression in terms of x into any of the three function fields, using standard notation: x^2 for powers, sin(x), cos(x), tan(x), sqrt(x), abs(x), log(x) for base-10 log, ln(x) for natural log, and pi or e for the constants. Multiplication can be implicit, so 2x and 2sin(x) both work without a *. Each field plots in its own color, so you can compare up to three curves side by side, like x^2 against x^3 to see where they cross.

Drag anywhere on the graph to pan, and scroll or pinch to zoom in and out. On a keyboard, click the graph and use the arrow keys to pan and the plus and minus keys to zoom. The chips below the function fields load working examples instantly, including a “Today’s curve” chip that swaps in a different interesting function each day. Your functions and the view you left the graph on are saved on your device, so they are already there next time you open the page. Nothing leaves your browser.

Graph Sketch does one thing: it turns a typed expression into a live, pannable, zoomable plot, fast, with no account and no menus. The real Desmos app goes considerably further. It handles sliders and parameters, inequalities, implicit equations, statistics and regression, tables, piecewise functions, and a full scientific and graphing calculator mode, all synced across your devices.

We kept the core loop: type a function, watch the curve respond instantly, and compare a few at once. We deliberately left out sliders and parameters, inequalities, and anything beyond single-variable functions of x, because a page you land on mid-homework should let you check one curve in a few seconds, not walk you through a feature tour first.

Why does my curve disappear or look broken?

That usually means the expression has a typo, an unmatched parenthesis, or asks for something undefined, like the square root of a negative number. An error message appears under that function field explaining what to fix, and it never crashes the other curves you have plotted.
